SMALL
ANIMAL APPOINTMENT POLICY
At Apple Grove
Veterinary Care, our team works very hard to provide efficient and
thorough veterinary medicine to all of our clients. To allow ample
time for all patients and surgical procedures and to ensure that
every patient receives the attention that they deserve, we operate
primarily by scheduled appointment. Emergency cases shall receive
top priority, which is why an occasional appointment delay is inevitable.
Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client
on time.
APPOINTMENTS
Appointment
times are available Monday through Saturday. Evening appointments available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 7pm!
For your convenience,
drop-off appointments are available in emergency situations for
established patients. A 'drop off' means you could bring your pet
at the time that works best for you and leave him or her with us
for a portion of the day. Usually we will ask you to drop off in
the morning so our doctor can examine the patient in between appointments
or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the
doctor is done, he/she will give you a call to go over the diagnosis
and to give you discharge instructions.
LEASHES
& CARRIERS - SAFETY FOR YOU AND YOUR PETS
Even though
we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during
visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings
and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain
your pet in and around our premises. We recommend that animals be
placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the clinic.
Dogs being discharged following surgery or anesthesia are required
to leave on a leash or carrier. Cats being discharged following
surgery or anesthesia are required to be transported in a carrier.
Inexpensive, reusable cardboard cat carriers are available for clients
who need one. Just ask!
IN CASE
OF AN AFTER HOURS EMERGENCY – SMALL ANIMAL
If your pet
needs emergency attention outside of our regular business hours,
we recommend that you contact Michigan State University Small Animal
Emergency Hospital at 517-353-5420. They are fully staffed 24 hours
a day to handle any emergency.

& Ovine patients through both our Farm Call or In-Clinic Services.
Farm
Calls
To schedule a Farm Call with Dr. Weaver, Dr. Howard, or Dr. Morris, please call the office
in advance with a general time frame in mind. While we will try
to schedule a visit that is convenient for you, we cannot guarantee
that your desired time frame will be available as Emergency Cases
are inevitable and will take precedence over routine services.
In order to
minimize travel time and fuel costs, we attempt to schedule appointments
together in general geographic regions. We ask that you attempt
to be as flexible as possible on the day of your farm call. Note:
Farm Calls requested after 3pm, may incur a $10 fuel surcharge in
attempt to hold down the cost of regular farm visits.
We welcome you
to phone us the morning of your scheduled farm call to get an approximate
time of the doctor’s arrival or upon request, we can phone
you prior to the doctors arrival.
In-Clinic
Large Animal Appointments
In-Clinic
appointments are typically scheduled first thing in the morning
or last thing in the afternoon. For example, 8am or 4:30pm.
In-Clinic appointments
allow for specialized equipment to be readily at hand, results from
blood work and radiographs to be available immediately, mobile service
charges are not applied, and additional staff is often available
to assist when needed.
Please make
the office staff aware of all of the procedures that you will require
during your Farm Call or In-Clinic appointment. This will allow
the doctor to see clients in a timely fashion and to be prepared
upon arrival.
