Rachel Morris, DVM with Dogs Dixie and JackDr. Morris is a veterinarian with a cheerful and compassionate personality who emphasizes client education, diagnostics, and practical treatment. She is a very personable and intelligent individual excited to meet the clients of Apple Grove Veterinary Care and help you care for your beloved companions. She has an interest in large and small animal medicine.

She grew up in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. After graduating from Eaton Rapids High School, Dr. Morris attended Michigan State University, where she achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 2005. Her senior thesis was on the value of feeding cellulase to horses to improve digestion. She subsequently obtained a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Dr. Morris has been a familiar face around our hospital on and off since 2001, obtaining a lot of pre-veterinary experence here with Dr. Weaver.

During veterinary school, Dr. Morris worked to organize the Miracle of Life Exhibit at the Michigan State Fair, did research on hairy heel warts in feedlot cattle among many other electives. Most impressively, she dedicated herself to veterinary mission work, traveling to Africa on two separate occasions, first to South Africa and two years later to Ethiopia. Her veterinary work in Africa involved equine and goat projects where she helped impoverished people care for their animals which often are their sole source of livelihood. She also conducted spay and neuter surgery clinics.

When a position opened in July of 2009 at Apple Grove Veterinary Care, Dr. Weaver sought out the professional skills of Dr. Morris and she gladly accepted.

Dr. Morris is married to husband Ivan and has three children. She enjoys many hobbies such as trail riding, hiking, camping and church activities.
