Dr. Weaver has over 40 years experience in veterinary medicine so it is obvious he has a true passion for the profession. He spent his first 39 years caring for dogs, cats, horses, cows, sheep, goats and alpacas in Charlotte and the surrounding communities he has since limited his practice to dogs and cats but will see small ruminants on a haul in basis. His compassion and humorous nature make each visit with Dr. Weaver an enjoyable one.
In 1978, Dr. Weaver received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University, following his graduation, he returned home to Charlotte and took an associate veterinarian position in mixed animal practice. In 1984, Dr. Weaver started Weaver Veterinary Service. In 1987, the practice took on the name Old Orchard Veterinary Service and through a reorganization in 2005 became Apple Grove Veterinary Care all within the same location. The building which houses Apple Grove Veterinary Care was originally a cider mill surrounded by an apple orchard and through many remodeling and additions over the years has become a full-service animal hospital.
In addition to private practice Dr. Weaver is a member of the MVMA and AVMA as well as an Adjunct Professor at Michigan State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital from 1995 to 2017 mentoring 2-3 veterinary students per year for a 3-week educational experience. Dr. Weaver also served on the Alumni Advisory Committee to the Dean of Michigan State University Veterinary Medicine from2014 to 2017 Lower Michigan's Western shore of Lake Michigan attracts Dr. Weaver in his spare time. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, and beach combing as well as perfecting his culinary skills. Dr. Weaver and his wife try and spend as much as possible with their son daughter in-law daughter son in- law , granddaughter and 3 grandsons
