SENIOR WELLNESS
PROGRAM
Dogs
and cats are now living longer! We would like to make these years
the happiest and healthiest as possible. Since pets age more rapidly
than people, health changes can occur in as little as 3-6 months.
Pets are considered “seniors” at the age of 7. Some
changes may occur in appetite, stiffness, weight gain/loss, dental
disease, vision, hearing, plus many more!
We would like
to help identify these changes early, in order to keep your pet’s
quality of life at it’s best. Screening tests may be done
to test blood and/or urine for problems that may not be visible
yet. Please notify the veterinarian if you are seeing any changes
in your senior pet! We're pleased to introduce a program that will
help us provide the best care for your senior pet…
Celebrate
Seniors! Living longer, living better-starting at age 7!
Senior
age pets, ages 7 years and older, undergo aging changes in organs
and tissues the same as do elderly humans. It has been documented
that many of the chronic disorders and disease processes seen in
senior pets can be either cured or at least medically controlled
if they are detected early enough. Earlier detection and prompt
treatment of medical conditions improves the chances that senior
pets will live longer, happier, and better quality lives. We want
to keep you and your loved pet together for as many years as possible!
As your pet
enters his/her senior years, he/she may start to develop diseases
common to senior human counterparts, such as diabetes, cataracts,
arthritis, hypothyroidism and cancer. These diseases can go unnoticed
in their early stages and many develop rapidly, making regular monitoring
and blood testing very important.
Pets become
seniors much faster than people. Your pet ages roughly 6-8 years
for each human year. By age seven, many pets are feeling the aches
and pains of aging, and they cannot tell us what's wrong. Older
pets' joints and organs don't function as efficiently, and health
and comfort can be compromised.
You play a key
role in maintaining your pet's health because you know your pet
better than anyone else. With your watchful eye and our medical
care, we can establish baseline information, identify illnesses
early and provide effective treatment to help your pet avoid serious
or life-threatening conditions.
