Hello Apple Grove Veterinary Care Clients! During the months of September thru November our team will be focusing on Senior Wellness. A dog or cat is considered a senior when they reach 7 years or older. Being conscious of your senior pet is extremely important. At Apple Grove Veterinary Care we work hard to promote senior wellness. It is crucial that your senior pet come in for a yearly physical exam; being careful not to skip any years. If you stop and think about it, 1 pet year is like 7 of our years of life, so skipping 1 of your pet’s annual physicals is like you not going to the doctor for 7 years! A lot can change in that time, and it is imperative to catch some senior health changes at their early stages. If the doctors at Apple Grove diagnose problems in their early stages, usually it is managed much easier, and therefore means more happy years with your pet.

If your family does have a senior pet, we encourage you to take advantage of our senior wellness program. Our senior wellness package includes several blood tests that indicate different health problems that could be sneaking up on your pet, a sample of urine tested, a radiograph, a comprehensive physical exam, and a thorough oral examination. All of these procedures are done at one visit, at a discounted rate. Even if all of these diagnostics come back within normal limits and your pet appears healthy at this time, we will have it on your pet’s record to have as a baseline should any health problems arise in the future.
